There has been a flurry of rumors and speculation surrounding the highly anticipated next generation of graphics cards from Nvidia and AMD. However, both companies have remained tight-lipped, except for confirming their release sometime this year. A recent financial call from Nvidia, though, hinted at the unveiling of the RTX 40 series at this year’s GTC (GPU Technology Conference)…
During the call, Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang expressed his excitement for next month’s GTC conference, where they plan to showcase the latest advancements in RTX, revolutionizing 3D graphics and gaming. This means that Nvidia will be introducing the RTX 40 series during their keynote on September 20th.
What makes this particularly interesting is that GTC primarily focuses on the data center and AI aspects, rather than gaming. However, considering that the RTX 3090 and RTX 3090 Ti are geared more towards creators than gamers, it’s possible that the RTX 4090 will follow suit and find its place within the event.
Nvidia traditionally launches their most high-end cards first, so it’s highly likely that the RTX 4090 will be among the initial releases of the new GPU generation. However, the delayed official announcement suggests that the RTX 40 series may hit the market slightly later than previous generations (the RTX 3080 debuted on September 17th, 2020, followed by the RTX 3090 on September 24th, and the RTX 3070 on October 29th).
Huang’s comment during the financial call further reinforces this notion, as he addresses the recent drop in gaming revenue and mentions overcoming the challenge over the next few months and entering the new year with their new architecture.
Although the RTX 30 series was launched in 2020 and continued into 2021, it appears that the RTX 40 series will be released later than the RTX 30 series did two years ago. Regardless, we eagerly await Nvidia’s official statement during their keynote at GTC on September 20th, 2022.
What are your thoughts? Are you excited about the RTX 40 series? How do you feel about a potential delayed launch? When do you anticipate each GPU will be released? Let us know!
